Stay at Work Services
Absence and disability prevention services designed to support employees with health conditions who require temporary accommodations.
Medical accommodation services
Who uses it?
Medical accommodation services are ideal for actively working employees who need temporary modifications to their work duties or environment due to a functional or cognitive disability.
Why should we use it?
An effective accommodation program will reduce the utilization of an employer’s short-term disability plan and help to keep employees at work and productive.
The medical accommodation program ensures that you manage your accessibility requirements, including Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) requirements, and meet the terms of the qualifying period for long-term disability.
How does it work?
Our case managers review medical accommodation requests for medical validity, communicating findings and decisions directly with your Human Resources team. We also include recommendations for appropriate workplace modifications and timeframes, where applicable.
Ergonomic assessments
Who uses it?
Ergonomic assessments may be recommended for those on disability leave who require workplace modifications to ensure a sustainable return to work; they may also be requested from actively working employees to reduce the risk of future injury.
How does it work?
Using our trusted preferred partner, we facilitate ergonomic assessments either onsite or virtually. Following the evaluation, we provide a detailed report outlining the adjustments needed to ensure a safe work environment.
Attendance management reviews
Who uses it?
Some employees may have frequent incidental or cyclical absences that exceed the company benchmark. Understanding if the absences are culpable or non-culpable helps Human Resources and managers aaddress concerns appropriately.
How does it work?
If cases of chronic or cyclical absences exceed your attendance management policy threshold, we collect the required medical and absence information to verify whether a chronic medical condition exists.
Why should we use it?
Verification can help employers create ongoing accommodation strategies or set expectations for future attendance issues.
